WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Comedian Stephen Colbert insisted Sunday that his ambition to run for president was no joke -- then joked he would consider disgraced Republican Sen. Larry Craig as a vice presidential running mate.
"I don't want to be president. I want to run for president. There's a difference," the host of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" said in a television interview.
"I'm far realer than Sam Brownback, let me put it that way," he told NBC's "Meet the Press" in a reference to Republican Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas, who dropped out of the 2008 White House race Friday.
Colbert, whose pugnacious egomaniacal TV persona routinely mocks conservative talk shows, hopes to run in both the Republican and Democratic primaries in his native South Carolina "because I'd like to lose twice."
Colbert said he had not spoken to Craig, who is embroiled in a sex scandal after being snared in an airport men's room by an undercover officer who said Craig had solicited him for sex.
Colbert explained his strategy was to win enough votes to receive a single South Carolina delegate to next year's Democratic presidential convention.
"Why else run as a favorite son if you're not going to broker a convention? And if I get a delegate, it will be a brokered convention -- unless they offer me to let me speak, then maybe I would turn over my delegate," he said.
South Carolina's The State newspaper reported that Colbert has already affected the campaign. His solicitation to viewers for donations to a Web site to help state schoolteachers has raised more than $13,000, dwarfing donations in the names of two top Democratic rivals -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois.

You won't be young forever
There's only a fraction to the sum
You won't be young forever
Nor will anyone
So...
Look at your life, who do you want to be before you die?
Look at your life, what do you want to do?
Look at your life, who do you want to be before you die?
Look at your life, you haven't got forever
And tell me what really matters
Is it the money and the fame?
Or how many people might eventually know your name?
But maybe you touch one life
And the world becomes a better place to be
Maybe you give their dreams another day
Another chance to be free
Look at your life, who do you want to be before you die?
Look at your, what do you want to do?
Look at your life, who do you want to be before you die?
Look at your life, it all comes back to you.

Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.
It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out.
It doesn't matter much to me.
Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry Fields forever.
No one I think is in my tree, I mean it must be high or low.
That is you can't you know tune in but it's all right.
That is I think it's not too bad.
Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Always no sometimes think it's me, but you know I know when it's a dream.
I think I know I mean "Yes," but it's all wrong.
That is I think I disagree.
Let me take you down, 'cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields.
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Strawberry Fields forever.
Strawberry Fields forever.

Woke up at the ungodly hour of 9:40AM and got ready to go with Rob for breakfast. We get to Old Country Buffet at about 10:30AM only to learn that breakfast is only on weekends. Greatly disappointed that I am once again denied pancakes, we're of into Courtland Mall to browse. Rob bought packages of paper plated and cups for the Halloween party while I contemplated buying some fun stuff for the break room at the theatre (I didn't). Off to browse video games, then back to OCB for a breakfast of champions (tacos, mac n' cheese, and cheese cake; gods help my digestive system)
Rob calls Dave, who is going to meet us at Jellybeans. On our way there, Rob's hawk-like perceptions notice that Hollywood Video is going out of business and is having a close-out sale! That was an offer too good to pass up. Dave could wait a few minutes and would take him some time to get to Jellybeans anyway so we made our detour... We probably spent a good 30 minutes perusing the shelves, and I ended up with a nice stack:
In The Mouth of Madness (VHS; Sam Neil stars in a Lovecraft inspired thriller)
Armitage: Dual Matrix (DVD)
Slayers: The Motion Picture (DVD; fantasy anime of the best sort)
Night Watch (DVD; The Matrix meets horror genre)
Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic (DVD; hot, funny, irreverent Jewish girl... need I say more?)
Went to Jellybeans only to learn that Dave was there and already gone! So we look around at the comic books for a bit, then call Dave again and plan to meet him at Qdoba. We get there, hang out and talk for a bit while I nap on my jacket-turned-pillow, then get dropped back home. Chris and I play a few rounds of pool on the new pool table, and then I opened up the Macbook. And now I am off to gird myself for Friday night at NCG, a new movie night with flicks that are sure to bring in the crowds! </sarcasm>
A brutal fiscal year...

Dethklok - Dethharmonic
I want to keep my money
And give away absolutely nothing
To the government who moderates my spending
and obliterates depending on what time of the year
brutality is here
in the form of income tax
I'd rather take a fucking axe
to my face, blow up this place
with you all in it, I'd do it in a minute
If I could write off your murder
I'd save all of my receipts
because I'd rather you be dead
than lose a tiny shred of what I made this fiscal year
I'd rather you be dead than to maul your body in my second home
I'd rather you be dead than consider myself opening a restaurant
I'd rather you be dead
I'd rather you be dead
Prepare the laser-beam
I'm gonna use it tonight
Engage the laser-beam
It's gonna end your life
I'm gonna use it tonight
If I could write off your murder
I'd save all of my receipts
because I'd rather you be dead
than lose a tiny shred of what I made this fiscal year
I'd rather you be dead than to maul your body in my second home
I'd rather you be dead than consider myself opening a restaurant

Tonight I saw "Sydney White" and very much enjoyed it. I liked the Snow White meets college drama concept, making what would have been a generic teen/tween movie something more than a waste of time. The dorks were the best part, resembling Disney counter parts in interesting ways (Gerkin is my favourite out of the seven, but they're all funny), and made me think of many of my friends... the chess, the lightsaber fights, the geekdom.
Turns out that I have overdrawn my self by, well, a lot, so I'm now starting a budget. With $50 to my name this is probably a good idea. Maybe it's time I start pushing for a supervisor position... could use the extra pay. *smirk*

Apparently as of Monday, Michigan will be shut down because our governing body can't decide on on a budget. Which means anything state run will not be available until they do. That would include public schooling. Good job, government!

Thought it was time I logged back on. I've been taking a break from everything LiveJournal, and that unfortunetly means I have a *lot* of catching up to do as far as reading group posts and friend entries. I hope none of you have been real busy...
So this year has been full of painful moments, heart-crushing in fact. There is the lose of my grandma, the recent break up from a much devoted relationship (and now what seems the end of a great friendship, sadly), and now... the lose of a beloved animal companion.
Sugar died on Thursday. A few days before we noticed her acting weird and took her to the vet, to which was discovered that she may have had a parasite (most likely) that was shutting down her kidneys. We did what we could to boost her system, give her medication.. but she couldn't hold on. The reactions around the house could have knocked walls over, and that was just from my screams. She was very close to all of my family, closer than any cat we've taken in before. We're working on a memorial now with all the pictures we've taken up to now.

I'll come back in a little more detail later, but here is the initial update for the last week or so.
OzzFest.
Friend from New Zealand stayed over, made goofy videos which are making way to YouTube, and she introduced me to marmite spread (which is like veggemite).
Move into new house is complete. Still surrounded by boxes, but complete. Pictures to come of my room (as is, and then after the painting) and the "movie room".
Buying of several new books and cds. Will probably skip over this since I'm not reviewing any of them... yet.
Rocky Horror Show!
Contacting of a few old friends whom I don't talk to enough and has been a hell long time. I aim to talk to my friends at least once a week, be it by phone, IM, MySpace/Facebook, blogs or otherwise.

Lughnassadh blessings, everyone!
Lúghnasadh is also known as Lughnasa (Modern Irish), Lugnasad (Old Irish), Lúnasa (Reformed Modern Irish), Lúnasdain, Lúnasdal, Lunasduinn (Scots Gaelic) and Laa Luanisdyn or Laa Luanys (in Manx), Lammas Day, Garland Day, Domnash Chrom Dubh, Crom Dubh Sunday, Billberry Sunday (Domthnach na bhFraochóga in Ireland), and Fraugham Sunday. It marks the end of summer and beginning of fall, and was was traditionally up to a month long, held between July 15 and August 15. Nowadays, it is usually celebrated on or near August 1. (based on material from "The Wheel of the Year at Muin Mound Grove, ADF" by Rev. Skip Ellison).Of course, here in Michigan summer is the last thing we're celebrating the end of. It'll be another month or so before the weather cools off again... one month too many for me! Although, I have enjoyed the rare nightly swim..

Notebook, Harry Potter Madness
Posted on 2007.07.11 at 03:03
My new Macbook arrived today! That was the majority of my day before 6, playing around with the features. In fact the notebook picked up on an unprotected wi-fi network in the neighborhood earlier and I've been leeching off it occasionally (like RIGHT NOW). IM ON UR NETWURK, SERFIN 4 PR0N
After 6, it was Harry Potter midnight madness. Some people showed up in costume, and I had fun talking to fellow fans (and my Ravenclaw peps, w3rd). The whole night was insane but I loved it. The excitement of a crazy night... I don't know, it's just such a rush. I love it.
I can't wait to see Order of the Phoenix, despite hearing some of the scenes I really wanted to see aren't even in the movie (like Luna Lovegood and the huge roaring lion head... not there!)
Night all. The madness continues in a few short hours. Then it's time to install WoW on this beast. Need to name it too.....

Today at Kroger I sneaked a stressed out Starbucks girl a cookie, and told her to relax. She smiled in thanks, and noted how unusual a customer I am. Why is it so unusual to reach out and give someone a cookie?
Breath deep, and have a cookie. Oh, and don't forget to wear

We're all living in America,
America is WONDERFUL.
We're all living in America,
Amerika, Amerika.
When I'm dancing, I want to lead,
even if you all are spinning alone,
let's exercise a little control.
I'll show you how it's done right.
We form a nice round (circle),
freedom is playing on all the fiddles,
music is coming out of the White House,
and near Paris stands Mickey Mouse.
We're all living in America...
I know steps that are very useful,
and I'll protect you from missteps,
and anyone who doesn't want to dance in the end,
just doesn't know that he has to dance!
We form a nice round (circle),
I'll show you the right direction,
to Africa goes Santa Claus,
and near Paris stands Mickey Mouse.
We're all living in America,
America is WONDERFUL.
We're all living in America,
Amerika, Amerika.
We're all living in America,
Coca-Cola, WONDERBRA,
We're all living in America,
Amerika, Amerika.
This is not a love song,
this is not a love song.
I don't sing my mother tongue,
No, this is not a love song.
We're all living in America,
Amerika is WONDERFUL.
We're all living in America,
Amerika, Amerika.
We're all living in America,
Coca-Cola, sometimes WAR,
We're all living in America,
Amerika, Amerika.

Pirates 3 is freaking amazing, and I'm almost tempted to boot 300 from it's glorious spot as movie of the century. Man it comes close anyway. I won't be giving away any spoilers or really say anything more but to be ready for high weirdness and badassery. I'll be back here picking it apart after viewing it a few more times but for now I'm still just taking it all in. Not a single disappointment (okay, maybe a tiny one... later, laaaater)
"Ladies! Will you please shut it? Listen to me. Yes, I lied to you. No, I don't love you. Of course it makes you look fat. I've never been to Brussels. It is pronounced "egregious". By the way, no, I've never met Pizzaro but I love his pies. And all of this pales to utter insignificance in light of the fact that my ship is once again gone. Savvy?"
